the Daily Bread

wake up, find some clothes, strap shoes on
meet the cold wind with a high chin
the bakery is just around the block
but first
the obstacle course through personal tragedies
in eye-catcher wording and bold fonts
catastrophes reduced to sales figures

Day after day
with new shady facts
partiality and disrespect
keeps us challenged in
intellectuality
it is the media age

always presented as sinner or saint
I think to myself while she hands me the bag
fed up with the sensations of yesterday
starving for coffee beans and sweet dreams
brutalized or demoralised?
“Now more than fifty thousand are dead!”
it’s imcomprehensible…
I take a bite of the bread

Day after day
with new shady facts
partiality and disrespect
keeps us challenged in
intellectuality
it is the media age
